Roaming Highland Recreation area is not just a summer activity. We were out exploring recently and stumbled upon this Oakland county survey marker in the middle of nowhere. I mean nowhere. Completely off of any trail and in one of the lowest parts of the park, under some leaves and snow, there it was. not sure if we could ever find it again, but it was fun discovering this marker. Since the Haven Hill area of the Park has been used in one way or the other for well over 150 years now, there is so much in the way of history there. From the earliest settlers, the FORD Estate and even this semi-recent survey marker from the county. This area is filled with S.E. Michigan history.
