Scott and I went out hiking for about 5 hours today to clean up the last trail bits east of Duck Lake Road. With well over 100 miles of hiking and exploring over the last few months, I am confident we have completed the most complete, most accurate trail survey ever conducted in the park. Rob’s working on printed and downloadable maps from the data, combined with historic maps, and I’m working on cleaning up the GPS data for GPS-friendly downloadable files (yes, a real, accurate trail map with a “you are here” arrow!).
The final total looks like we’ll come in with just over 30 miles of trail surveyed and mapped east of duck lake. There’s still that much again east of Duck Lake Road, too, but I think for a while we’ll shift our time to more fine-grained documentation of our finds to date.
