Now that Daylight Saving Time has returned, the Haven Hill Project team can return to The Hill after escaping from our day jobs. Yesterday was beautiful, with temperatures in the 60’s, clear skies, and plenty of sun. Of course, since we went hiking today, it started at 40, cloudy, and windy, and just got colder from there. Still, we added 5.5 miles of mapped trail west of Duck Lake Road, and saw the first really beautiful sunset of the year, too (Hopefully Rob or Scott uploads one of their pictures).
The Trails on the west side of Duck Lake are tight and twisty, and really kinda confusing. There’s one full set of mountain bike trails, a full set of hiking trails, and a full set of horse trails, and there’s separate maps for each, and none of them bother to include the other two sets of trails. This is a problem on the east side, too, but when the mountain bike trails are added west of Duck Lake, it’s easy to get lost. When we finish mapping the west side of the park, we’ll add another map to the downloads at http://www.HavenHillProject.org, in addition to the two free maps already there, so hopefully everyone can enjoy the western trails without the navigation problems today.
