Another great day out at Haven Hill today. We’re nearing the end of field work for the first of our books. In fact, we crossed fully half the remaining items off our list today!
Although when we first began the project, we’d initially expected to be done with the entire park and estate by now, we keep finding more and more and more great stuff. This means that the first book will be scope-limited, but will still release a lot of information no one has ever seen. Actually, it will probably have more finds than what we initially expected in the complete book, which will probably be another year or two before it’s ready for publication at this point, assuming we eventually stop making new finds.
Today’s new find was yet another underground chamber. Edsel Ford hated the look of infrastructure up on the surface, so the electrical lines were buried instead of being run on poles like everywhere else, and equipment was buried in underground rooms, rather than placing an ugly utility building above ground. Many of these smaller underground accesses we’re only finding because we know, looking at what we know, that there’s a missing piece, then we go find that piece, and usually find it underground.
So a couple weeks more field work, probably, and another month or two of writing, at least, but the first book should be out and available some time this summer.
