Here at the Haven Hill Project Blog, we collect info from many different sources and Outdoors people, as well as do research from the NET and Libraries, on the many different things we write about. These Postings are by no means the final words on any of the Outdoor & Historical subjects covered here, nor do we recommend that YOU use only our postings as your only guides to any Outdoor activity, or Historical exploration. We hold no responsibility for the results of any of our Postings. They are here, Free to read or ignore, and any legal responsibilities do not apply here. Unfortunately we are forced to post this silly disclaimer to keep us legally disconnected from what someone may or may not do after reading one of our Postings, or following one of our Maps. What You do with the articles and Maps here on this Blog, is up to you, and we hold NO legal or binding connections to any of it. Just enjoy, and use your head when you go out into the Outdoors here in Michigan or any place.
As for the comment about the folks metal detecting. These people love history and uncovering history. Myself and others who metal detect are respectful of the land and return dug up areas to their original look. We even clean up trash! As for stealing as it was referred to on this website. If the park wishes metal detectors to turn over or inspect any historical items more hunters would do so gladly. If historic items are laying in the ground for NO ONE to see how is that stealing? Give hunters a chance to find these gems from this home and than share it with your organization.
I’ve been visiting Haven Hill house since 1997 and there was no organization that care one bit about this amazing historical house. Now it’s the Haven Hill Project that cares, well little too late after it burned in 1999. I resent and so do other metal hunters saying that we would be robbing everyone of history. Again, who would know of its historical items that are there unless someone dug them up and hunters would be glad to spend their time doing that to preserve history that you can actually see instead of it being buried for no one to see.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Colvin
